Born in a family of artists in 1974, David Sandu begins his apprenticeship at 13 years old, in the studio of Vlad Gherghiceanu, sculptor and master jeweler. It was the age when things were expected to have a meaning, yet the extreme restraint of personal freedom of that time determined David Sandu to try and find meanings in a small yet free universe; it was him face to face with the materials in the master's studio. Today, David Sandu assumes his artistic direction: he creates designer jewelry, that is jewelry that surpasses the simple decorative function.

Any piece of jewelry signed by David Sandu is unique and illustrates a concept, an idea that can lead to the creation of one or more jewels that complete one another and thus enhance their esthetic value. David Sandu exhibits his jewelry in well-known art galleries in Romania and abroad, yet the designer has never lost contact with his public. The jewelry is mainly born out of the relationship between the artist and the jewelry lover.

• Beginning with 1996, he takes part in many exhibitions organized in Bucharest, Venice, Basel, Brussels, etc.
• In 2005 he opens his own gallery in Bucharest, together with his partner, Ioana Andrei
• In 2007 he is awarded the First Prize at Tahitian Pearls Trophy, East European Region, category Ring
• In 2008 he becomes the first Romanian to participate to the prestigious international exhibition INHORGENTA Europe, the most well-known European fair of jewelry design, organized in Munich
• In 2009 he was selected for the "Design Podium" - Inhorgenta 2009.
